He then earned two Bachelor’s degrees, one in Criminal Justice and one in Political Science, from East Carolina University (ECU). At ECU, he was known as “Chicano” due to his Mexican-American heritage and was President of the Student Association of Latino Spanish Affairs (SALSA). He is an initiate of the Eta Nu chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Briceida Ortega was born and raised in a small town in southwest Kansas. She made Indiana home after graduating from Valparaiso University Law School in 2016. Since a young age, Briceida knew she wanted to be an attorney that helped the disadvantaged. Whether it be due to financial difficulties, injuries, or a language barrier, she wanted to help those in need. Briceida found her love for litigation while in law school when she interned for the Indiana Federal Defenders, an organization that represents indigent defendants at a federal level, and then when she earned a spot on the law school’s Criminal Defense Clinic representing clients that could not afford an attorney. After passing the Indiana Bar in 2016, Briceida continued her work seeking justice for those who couldn’t afford it as a public defender for Marion County. After several years as a public defender, Briceida turned her focus to another community in need of representation: the Hispanic community. She worked for an immigration firm in Indianapolis, representing clients before several U.S. Immigration Courts, including Chicago, Kansas City, Puerto Rico, and El Paso. Briceida focused on litigating cases in court, however, she also represented individuals in visa matters. Briceida joined Hensley Legal Group in October of 2022 and is excited to continue helping those in need, regardless of income, who have suffered from a car accident, truck accident, slip and fall, or other personal injury.
