Victor Essen joined the firm as an associate in 2005 and is currently a partner. Mr. Essen is a civil litigator in the state and federal courts of Missouri and Illinois. Mr. Essen has tried cases to juries, judges, and administrative tribunals. He has argued appeals in the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District and the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Western District. Mr. Essen has a varied practice, including: personal injury; property damage; automobile liability; premises liability; products liability; municipal issues; insurance coverage; bad faith and vexatious refusal claims; probate; construction; mechanics liens; commercial litigation; collections; inverse condemnation; subrogation; civil rights; pharmacy liability; and employment matters. Mr. Essen was an inaugural member of the Theodore McMillian American Inn of Court. Mr. Essen has spoken on topics involving personal injury litigation, bad faith claims, and qualified immunity. Mr. Essen received his legal education at Washington University School of Law where he was a Scholar in Law and won the F. Hodge O’Neal Corporate Law Prize. He received a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania where he was a Dean’s Scholar and member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Essen resides in St. Louis County with his wife and three children.
