He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and was educated at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, graduating in 1969. He attended the National University of Ireland (University College, Dublin) in 1971-1972, and graduated magna cum laude from The College of the Holy Cross in 1973. Patrick attended Boston College Law School, graduating cum laude in 1978. At Boston College he was a member and Editor of its Law Review. Patrick lives in Duxbury, Massachusetts with his wife Nell.
