Nicolas is an associate at CDH Law, where he leads the firm’s federal criminal defense practice while also utilizing his vast experience litigating white collar criminal cases. Fluent in Spanish and English, Nicolas is the firm’s lead counsel on cases for our Spanish-speaking clients. Nicolas Hurtado is a native Spanish-speaking attorney licensed to practice law in Colombia and New York. He has an LLM from James E. Rogers College of Law in Tucson, Arizona, and a Colombian law degree from one of Bogota’s most prestigious universities. During his time in Arizona, Nicolas was the first LLM student to reach the final round of the Richard Grand, a closing argument competition, where he earned second place. Before arriving to CDH, Nicolas worked on criminal law and white-collar cases where he represented Colombian and foreign companies in national courts. Also, he defended a former congressman charged as a co-conspirator of one of Colombia’s ex-presidents, he argued before the Supreme Court, and he was a defense attorney in a case the press called the biggest corruption case in Colombia, to name only a few. Finally, Nicolas has a vast amount of trial experience in both simple and complex cases. In 2023, he was recognized on the Legal 500’s Shortlist as “Rising Star of the Year” in Compliance.

His career spans a broad range of litigation that includes defending insurance carriers against workers’ compensation and personal injury claims. During his time as a defense attorney, Mina learned how insurance companies evaluate and litigate personal injury lawsuits which he now uses to his clients’ benefit. Mina received a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University where he had the opportunity to create and design a biotech device. He subsequently worked for a large medical research company where he studied and assisted in advanced surgical procedures for many of the leading Biotech companies throughout the US, including many orthopedic procedures such as total knee reconstructions, spinal procedures, hip replacement and others. This provided him with an exceptional foundation for tackling many of the firms medically demanding cases. Mina completed his J.D. at Wayne State University where he served as an assistant prosecutor with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office while under the supervision of a licensed attorney.

Brian J. Kluk

Brian has been with McCollum Crowley since 2015 as a civil litigator. He became a shareholder in 2019. He was selected by SuperLawyers as a Rising Star in 2021, 2022 and 2023. He has successfully represented clients in all phases of litigation, from pre-suit to trial, and appeals all the way to the Minnesota Supreme Court. Brian specializes in motion and appellate work, and focuses his practice on employment law, insurance coverage, subrogation, and mechanic’s liens.
