D. Elliott Tait comes to Andrews after 12 years of service at South Carolina Legal Services. There, he fought for survivors of domestic violence in Family Court, helping them keep custody of their children, secure financial support from their abusers, and ultimately start new lives free from the cycle of violence. He was also the Education Unit Head at Legal Services, where he was responsible for litigating cases against school districts for failing to provide appropriate services to children with special needs. Elliott continues to be a sought-after speaker, writer and litigator on education law matters, especially those involving special education and IEPs. Before law school, Elliott lived and worked in Bolivia, South America for two years. There, he became fluent in Spanish and fell in love with the Latin culture and people.
