About Richard

Richard Johnson joined Katz Friedman in 1983. He has worked to establish the rights of injured workers in many precedent-setting cases before the Illinois Supreme Court. He is highly regarded by his peers and has been honored as 2016’s Lawyer of the Year for Workers’ Compensation Law for claimants by Best Lawyers. He is also an Illinois Super Lawyer and one of the Best Lawyers in America. He earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 1982 and a B.S. from the School of Speech at Northwestern University in 1977. He is active in various professional associations, including serving as Past Vice-Chairman of the American Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Committee and Past Chairman of the Chicago Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Practice Committee. He is also a lecturer on workers' compensation topics.
