Although family law was not something he was initially interested in upon entering law school, taking on volunteer representation for a client in Law School Clinic and helping her gain the legal power she needed to fully care for her grandchild was transformative for him and his ambitions in the practice of law: her incredible level of gratefulness and the knowledge that he had profoundly helped both the grandmother and child left him hooked. He has specialized in family law ever since, saying "In order to be fulfilled in the work I am doing, I have to know I'm helping someone, and in a very important way, family is the most important thing to me, and I can't think of anything more fundamental I want to assist clients with resolving issues related to than their families."
