About Philip
Philip A. Bareck has been with Katz Friedman since 1991, becoming a partner in 2003 and a shareholder in 2007. He is an Adjunct Professor at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law teaching Workers' Compensation Law and was inducted into the College of Workers Compensation Lawyers. He is recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer, included in Best Lawyers in Workers’ Compensation Law, awarded inclusion in Top Trial Lawyers, Top Attorneys in Illinois, one of America’s Most Honored Professionals, and a Leading Lawyer in Workers' Compensation Law. His practice concentrates on representing injured employees in Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Disease cases, successfully representing thousands of individuals and deposing hundreds of physicians. He has secured future medical rights and ongoing treatment for clients and has fought against large companies. In 2016, he won a significant Appellate Court decision in Dunteman v. Caterpillar. He is a regular speaker on workers’ compensation topics and has authored several articles. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois in 1988 and his law degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law with High Honors in 1991. He was mentored by Warren Eagle. He is politically active and advocates for injured workers’ benefits and union members’ rights.
